Reading all the points on airbrush sending me in spirals

I have a iwata neo but not that pleased with it, sometimes it works fine but sometimes it splutters and I end up using my assortment of brushes to complete the task ( I keep the compressor around 20psi)

What is the best airbrush to get ( don't tell the wife know but I got about £150, looked at eclipses on eBay and revolutions but is it more a preference on one over the other

aghhhh need help

Hi Robert

I went for the eclipse in the end. Got it off eBay for £120 from spray guns direct. It's great and a lot easier to do than I expected. Im a beginner to airbrushing but can already get surprisingly fine lines. It's easy to clean aswell. I have nothing to compare it to but I'm more than happy with it. Build quality is amazing. Looks a real neat bit of kit. Hope this helps

Good on you mate. I have the eclipse HP-CS and the Iwata Hi Line HP-CH Airbrushes. However, the eclipse is my mainstay for my airbrushes.

I have an Eclipse HP BS. Also have the HPCS.

My favourite is the HPBS. Smaller than the average brush and also has a small cup which is designed to be low level to avoid the cup impinging on line of sight.

Being smaller it gives the opportunity to get into nooks and crannies. It is an all rounder and is good at for instance at coating a large area. Equally it is most excellent for after effects weathering etc.

For use it is very well balanced as it only has a small cup. It has the advantages of all those in the Eclipse range. Comes with a .35 needle/nozzle as standard and which is probably perfect for Acrylics Vallejo Lifecolor Mig etc. Cannot tell you about enamels as I do not use them. As an optional extra it also takes from memory a .5needle.

The only thing I would criticize is the button on the trigger. But if you buy an Iwata they are all the same. Saw that one person in a tuition video had fashioned his own thing to stick on top of the button. May be me but after using an H & S, which has a very comfortable trigger top, Iwata is not so good. But then I think the Iwata Eclipse has the edge on the H & S Evolution. Just but with one exception.

Iwata are pigs to clean compared with an Harder and Steenbeck Evolution. The paint cup on the Eclispse cannot be removed for cleaning either. But nothing is prefect but think the HPBS provides a slightly smoother paint finish.
