Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg creaters of Band of Brothers ETO and PTO have gained the rights to a book for a third series. Looks like it'll be about the air war over Germany. This looks very promising.

This sounds like it would be good. The last 2 were great and i still watch them all the time.

Cheers

I didn't really like the PTO version of Band of Brothers but totally love the ETO one. If they do this one about the 8th AF then i'll be gripped i'm sure

PTO, ETO, ELO was are you talking about?!?!?

did they make two versions of it? I dont know which versions I saw but they where pretty darn good. and if the next one has things with wing, well all the better.

I think everyone is meaning Band of Brothers was ETO ( European Theatre Operations ) and The Pacific was PTO ( Pacific Theatre Operations )

ELO on the other hand one of the greatest bands ever :)

Quite agree. Mr. Blue Sky is a masterpiece.

I don't think it's fair to compare The Pacific with Band of Brothers. They are both great in their own ways. The Pacific is the personal stories of three main characters and deals more with the psychological effects of combat.

Personally, I am very excited at the prospect of a series covering the air war, even if it will just be from the American perspective.

Dugh! Didn't figure that, quite obvious when you read it.

Glad to see that you saw my ELO I was wondering how quick that would be picked up. lol A great band indeed. ( remember ELP?)

Unfortunately I do :)

The European air war is a massive subject. A lot will depend on how they deal with it. Hopefully nothing like Red Tails.

Not seen the file Red Tails, and after all I have heard about it I wont be rushing off to see in the near future. Messers Hanks ans Speilberg tend to do things well and I hope this is not the exception to the rule.

band of brothers was by far the best WWII series the acting was fantastic and you got the feeling of how terrible it was by the real survivors of that theatre of war , the pacific I felt didn't have the power of the actors or the feelings of the survivors so I think it was a bit of a damp squib and had more a feel of Hollywood than the telling of what it might have like.

I am intrested to see how they approach this one , I have spoken to many British bomber and fighter pilots and crew the emotion of this will be the key to success I think if they go down the Hollywood root like they did with pacific then you may as well put Memphis belle on and save about eight hours of your life.
