Hi All this is my latest dio that i am working on and its another MiniArt building, i really am starting to like these or it may be a case of getting carried away with them...who knows!

Anyway its based on the MiniArt French farmyard that i have decided to turn it into a German workshop, i have started on the inside of the roof as i want this to be seen(perhaps hinged?) so that the work shop can be seen with its tools and shelving and workshop machinery etc.

The vehicles used will be the Tamiya Kublewagon and the Steyr both looking as if they are being worked on and a few other bits going on, its going to be a WIP and i will update as the build is going along and try to finish of my other dio that i am doing at the moment also..........dont you just love this modelling lark, you can get carried away, but its all good fun, anyway i have posted a few pics see what you think!

Well there you go i hope you like the pics so far, i will keep updating as i build more and i will try to think of a name for it.......now back out in the garden and enjoy this beautiful weather!!!

Tom

Excellent start to your diorama Tom....

I used to put roofs on for a living, and I could never get them as neat as your example here!!

Nice one,

Ron

i too am getting addicted to mini art kits and have a few in the stash . love your roof idea.

This sudden addiction for making buildings seems to be catching, 'cos I've been well and truly bitten too.....The down side is due to cash restrictions I will have to scratch build mine. It just ain't fair!

Hi Andrew thanks for that mate, Ron i get my kits mainly from e-bay and sometimes you can get them less than half price, one or two i got for less than a fiver! but i have come across some builders of dios mainly buildings that have built theyre own using cardboard or balsa wood.

I have just bought myself some balsa wood and plastic card along with a sheet of cork for less than £15.oo for the lot, and plan to attempt my own buildings using these products, if you go to Armorama a guy has just put on a dio that he is building himself, and it looks great, there are some fantastic tips on here as well as other forums that offer amazing tips etc.

Tom

Thanks for the info. Tom. I had a look on 'Armorama' at Carantan, is that the one you are referring to? Very big project, eh!

I also had a look on ebay as you suggested...The 'buy it now' miniart buildings and walls ect. are a crazy price, but I will keep half an eye on any auction ones that might crop up.

But to be honest, I'm having so much fun scratch building my stuff 'cos it allows my imagination free play, that I don't think I would enjoy a kit half as much, that's not to say the Miniart kits are not great models, it's just that I'm so far down the road of 'Freestyle' now (and loving every apprentice scribe with my scalpel!) that it would just not suit me to change.....

Best of luck with your own scratch stuff and thanks again for the post.

Cheers,

Ron

Hi Guys

Just an update of some pics of my latest Dio build, hope you like them so far!

The garage is the French farm yard kit from MiniArt and i have a few vehicles to be added to the Dio, these are a mixture of Tamiya and Italeri along with some resin bits and bobs that have to be added later (ie) fuel pumps, sign, telegraph poles etc, i still have a long way to go especially with the ground work, as it is a fair sized dio.......well thats it for now, i hope you like the pics so far.

Hi Guys just an update on the dio i am building, i have finally got around to doing some more work on it and have posted a few more pics of its progression, i have added a few more bits and bobs inside the garage and have managed to start the groundwork.

I have used the Verlinden card road and side walk sections but to be honest i wont be using these again ( not realistic enough) the groundwork was started by putting plaster around the outside edge of the buildings and paint was then added followed by static grass and pebbles and rockery stone, this was then followed by clumps of different grass ( great and really realistic looking) and different clumps of flowers in different colours!

I added these to break up the groundwork and to add some realism of a friendly scene, more work was added to the inside of the garage by way of posters and tools etc, along with this i addressed the groundwork at the front of the garage by using florists oasis and plaster to build up the height before adding a piece of cut static grass roll (you can buy this from any decent railway stockists, these come in different shades of static grass(ie) Autumn, Summer etc easy to use and fairly cheap).

Well thats about it for now and i hope you enjoy the pics.

Hi Andy

Thanks for that mate, its been a long time to get it to where it is, as i have been building other kits also, but its getting there.

Andy try these few kit suppliers its where i mainly get my stuff from, they are from China and have never let me down, prices vary but are cheaper than getting them from here, hope this helps with you getting some of the stuff you are after.

Shanghaing e-bay member resin items such as the machine work shop items and excellent resin figures decently priced and prompt postage.

Caomao1122 e-bay member excellent resin items such as the work shop machines, outside wooden toilet, water trough and resin trailers etc, had lots of bits and bobs from these guys, excellent prices and delivery.

Miniatures hobby.com Resin military diorama accessories (ie) as above but with a few more decent bits and bobs, free delivery on orders over $35.00 about £22.00 or there abouts, had some bits and bobs from these and never had a problem at all......well worth looking at!

in.gelivable e-bay member resin figures and Dragon boxed figures and kits along with Bronco and Great wall model kits, not badly priced from China and not bad at all.

Hope these are of help for what you are looking for Andy, let me know how you get on if you decide to get anything from any of these.
