Hello to you all,

I have just inherited a wooden 1:124 'Mantua' Thermopylae model to complete. My father started it, he completed the hull, but sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago, so I am going to try and complete the project.

My dad was a retired carpenter and perfectionist, so the hull looks very good, I hope I don't ruin it now !!!!

Anyway, I have made a start and am a complete novice so it is quite daunting prospect, so apologies in advance for any stupid questions.

I work as a Radio Engineer and know absolutely nothing about ships !!!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.......

A big welcome to the forum :)

I don't know anything about boats or wood working, but I'm sure someone will be able to help as it's a very friendly forum.

Enjoy :)

Thanks guys.

I love technical things and the plans look really good, so plenty to get my teeth into !!

If anyone has experience of this ship I would appreciate any help on offer.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm sure the boat builders amongst us will have some sound advice for you.

Enjoy your build.

Tony.

hi and welcome.

I am sure that if you have a specific question, some one will be able to help. I dabble a bit with floaty things, and have a couple of cleaver boat builder mates who know pretty much all you need to know about building them. I might even be able to help! If not I can send the question on to them......internet is really a helpful thing. Sometimes...
