I am writing a book

Remember the dear and much lamented Nigel D asking me to write a book ? well I have started it today, the book is a very personal outlook of my life including the highs and the lows, the title is 'On Angels Wings' hopefully the publishers will find it good enough to go ahead with, otherwise I will publish the book myself, sorry there is no date yet as there is a lot of work to do on it still, but rest assured it will emerge one day.

In memory of Nigel,I am going to dedicate it in his name,I hope that is allright with you Char.

brilliant Barry. i miss your blog and have always hoped you would write a book. i think dedicating it to Nigel is very nice idea and i think he deserves it. good luck and if you need any help along the way please ask im sure everyone would be willing to help!

Thanks Richard, the blog is still active,it is just that I have so much work on these days it does not get the attention that it used to.

I will still add to it as and when I get the time.

Well guys a bit of good news. Im following in my father footsteps. I have been promoted and up the management scheme of Argos ill be full time soon and will be able to go further up the scale. Im now a team leader which means im in charge of the staff and making sure they are working as a team and that everything is going right on the shop floor. Im so happy that im finally getting there.

congratulations char. your dad would be very proud of you. when do you finish college so you can go full time? good luck to you and make sure you earn the respect of your team. it will be hard at first having been a part of the team itself.

I finish college in june. So ill be going full time then. It is hard to be above the team. Ive made friends and i dont want to be too bosy to them because its not fair on them. They are all happy that i am part of the management team and so is my other team leaders that i share the title with. Thanks Richard.

Making such a transition is always very difficult but you have already realised the challenges involved with dealing with people who you used to have as friends and be considered as equal to.

Now you will be responsible for thier performance as a team and the most difficult task you face will be to hold accountable those members of the team who are not performing the way you want them to. Maintaining that balance of earning respect whilst maintaining credibility is going to be a challenge to you to start with but I'm sure that you will be able to draw on your Dads inspiration to help. He obviously had a tremendous amount of respect from his team and was able to motivate them accordingly.

I'm sure he would have been very proud of you for achieving this and would have enjoying giving you guidance and support to help you along the way. His spirit is here with us all though and whenever you feel the need for a bit of help and advice don't hesitate to ask us here where we would be more than willing to offer a helping hand.

Heartiest congratulations for achieving this Charlotte I'm sure you will go on to even greater things and continue to do credit to your father.

car is in the garage again......AAAAAHHHHH..... they have it more of the time than i do..... this time its the ignition barrel and the keys not talking to one another !- the keys have chips or some kind of transponder built into them, and now the car based imobiliser/ bit of kit does not recognize or accept them.....great !

so i have a car i can get into, open and close the doors but wont start, wont allow me to turn on any electrical functions or actually drive the damm thing !

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !

garage sending a recovery vehicle to collect it this afternoon, - they dont know how long they will need it, theres no courtesy car available and they have no idea what the bill is likely to be....... ( a second mortgage probably at £96 an hour labour)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !

i feel better after a good rant !

Awwww Now that is probably the most horrible thing not having a car. What are you going to do about work Guy. Must be a challenge for you. Save your pennies as they will charge a lot like garages normally do.

luckily i have access to my father in laws car, ( he lives in the same village as us) so i have that today to get me to work - but even that is an ordeal, its a 4.6 litre daimler jaguar, its huge, it drinks fuel like its going out of fashion and not to my liking, i am terrified of it - its his prized posession !!!!

but it did get me to work ok !

the garage collected the car and they say all the keys and locks need replacing as the 'sentry' system has failed- also the ignition lock barrel is now shot.... (the potential cause of the sentry system failure) so i need new door locks, boot lock, ignition and of course new keys which need to be coded to repsond to the imobilizer.....

estimated cost £380 for parts plus labour costs- but if i go ahead the recovery of the vehicle to the garage is free !- cheeky swines !

......AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

should get the car back tomorrow morning !

Don't crash it then or get a scratch on it lol. Fathers prized possessions are not a good move if you damage them. I mean my dad omg you should of seen his face when he bashed the bumber.

Whoops, get a vintage car. Modern technology. Why is there not a spit smily when you need one.

Something I have just noticed, probably to do with me not logging out :lame: excuse. I seem to be in the top five or was it:thinking: six, for being on this forum.

I do sometimes look in tho'

do you mean where it says this?

Currently Active Users: 28 (5 members and 47 guests) Most online: 260, 07-05-2006 at 01:45.

rjwood_uk, GEEDUBBYA, wildman, ScottT, Raymac

that dosnt mean you are online the most....as you can see it is different now.

what it means is that on the 7th May 2006 at 01:45 there where 260 people online at once....which is the most that has ever been online at one time on this forum.

the names under that are just names of the members who are online at the precise time the home page loaded/it last refreshed.

get it?
