Most of you on here probably remember the Nimrod XV230 from RAF Kinloss that crashed in Afganistan killing all 14 crew on board. I knew a few of the crew and also worked on the aircraft just before it flew out to the gulf.

Money after the crash was raised for a memorial to be built in the local town (Forres) to honour the crew members so that people would have a place to pay their respects.

It now appears that the local council and people of influence are now blocking said memorial. Obviously they are forgetting how many local people are ex-forces and pump millions of £s into the community.

A webpage/group has been set up on Facebook to highlight the 'problem' and also local papers will be contacted to show supporters outrage at this move by the coucil etc etc.

If you are interested at showing your support to honour the crew of XV230 that died serving Britain overseas then please feel free to join the group at Support For A Memorial For The Lost Nimrod Crew | Facebook

Many thanks and please forward to your friends if they are intersted as well

I'm not sure I understand the "reasons" given to block it... ridiculous!!

I'm with John.Given the digital age we live in the local councillors could find themselves on the wrong end of a national campaign. Not supporting a war is not the same as not supporting the troops who have to fight it!
