Can anyone tell me what the closest panzer div or unit was to the Normandy landings?

I have looked online but can't find anything on this all they go on about is the d day landings

Any help is greatly received :)

Hi Alan, hope this helps,

Utah beach 709th Infantry Division, 91 Infantry Division, 1058 Regt, 919 Regt, 1057 Regt, 6 Para Regt.

Omaha beach part 914th Regt, 916 Regt, 30 Regt, 352 Infantry Division, 726 Regt.

Gold/Juno beach 915 Regt, part 736 Regt, 716 Infantry Division, 21 Panzer Division.

Sword beach part 736 Regt, 711 Infantry Division with the 12th SS Panzer Division to the south.

I hope my book is not wrong and I hope this helps you?

Lee :)

According to my books the 21st Panzer Division was based at Caen (with 130 PzIVs) and was therefore the closest. The 2nd and 116th Panzer Divisions were further away. The OKW reserve was also further back with Panzer Lehr and Hitler Jugend (180 tanks).
