Well it is me birthday tomorrow that's my excuse lol

Now that I have two DBS's one will be painted in Morning frost white and this one will be painted in Toro Red. Not sure when I'll get round to starting these yet..

As for the DTM Astra that's coming along I'll post more on that this weekend.

Regards

A red aston martin? that's sacrilege surely.

Almost as much so as what I have planned for a Ducati 916 kit :dancing2:

Modelzone...they have some amazing bargin priced kits, we have one in Plymouth...i try to stay away lol :-) Two great kits you got ya self there.

Nice one David, and Happy Birthday for tomorrow!

A red Aston? Hope its that loverly deep blood red and not some screaming Itialian red. (why do I think that M1ks is going to do a BRG Ducati).

two very nice cars you got there and I look forwards to seeing how they turn out. Even if one of them is red!!!

A way off the mark there but i'll not build up too much suspense as once i've finished the 1:24 Yamaha 500 GP bike and rider i've a Suzuki RG250 gamma to build for a friends xmas pressie, (it was his first bike), so maybe my insult to the genius that is Tamburini after that, (i'll be doing a proper red one too as I have two kits)

Just had a look for my nearest, Gateshead, hmmmm, only a mere 330 miles south :(

However, I'm planning on an impromptu campervan adventure with my wee fella next week before he's back to school which give both him and my missis a break, theres one in meadowhall in Sheffield and I might well reach Sheffield briefly to visit a few friends and family we don't see so often.

If so it would be simply rude not to visit! :) I can always see whats in the bargain bucket at hobbycraft while i'm there too.

Not to shabby actually. Looks like it might just work :-)

I saw one (well a picture anyway) in a sort of burgandy/ oxblood redmetalic, now that looked good. Different but still subdude.

Go for it David.

Well, we're back from our wee jaunt southward, with a stop at the Glasgow Science centre, (expensive but interesting) then a stop at Whitby, far far busier than I've ever seen it and I used to go there a lot prior to moving to the Highlands and visiting the toy shop, (for my wee boy of course), we got him a toy and me a new toy, a Revell 1:72 JU87 G/D Tank buster.

Meandered to Chesterfield (and accordingly all the yorkshire related places), visited Modelzone in Meadowhall and frankly was incredibly underwhelmed, to be fair the shop is not big and given that they've crammed a fair bit in but unfortunately no bargain kits to be had, I didn't manage Hobbycraft either :( Oh well, glad to be back away from the hustle and bustle to the quiet but had a great time with my little lad and away from TV's Computers and mod cons.

I`ve nearly finnished the DBS and it is a lovely build David no real issues apart from my own cockups , you have got to blog the SLR mate I`m very tempted to get one myself , sadly my local modlezone in Sutton Surrey has closed down it was only small but still a shame so all my shopping has to be done online now

Ahhh, Chesterfield, where I was actually born before moving to Yorkshire is in Derbyshire Rich lol. Sounds like you had a great time though. Modelzone in Meadowhall is quite small, I was surprised when I visited it early this year. Didn't get anything though.

I plan to blog the SLR and the lotus 1:20 F1 typre 79 unless you get to it before me lol

That was me Graham, I know Chesterfields in Derbyshire but a mere spit away from Yorkshire and meaning that having stopped in Chesterfield to see one set of relatives / friends we then did the same in the neighbouring S yorks area as all the rest are spread about Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Mexborough etc. (With the obvious exception of the family we have spread about the western isles and east and west highlands), we were a restless bunch, what can I say!

Added to which it quite easily offends some cestrefeldians when you bundle them into the 'yorkshire' group, which is always entertaining.:cool2:

Thread owner
lol, it does. However, this Chesterfieldien considers himself Yorkshire as I spent most of my life before coming to Peterborough in Maltby, between Rotherham and Doncaster (if you take a curved path). I will always regard Yorkshire as home, the hills are in my blood.

Thread owner
Ahhh, yes, Maltby, know it well, and worked there for a good few years, it's now the kind of place the police stop you at the border and frisk you for weapons, if they don't find any they give you a couple :grinball2:

Yorkshires a funny place, I was born and grew up in Sheffield, but my favourite memories are of me and my dad leaving the smoke and heading for the dales, or the moors, or anywhere countryside related, (aside from making models together that is), the particularly sad thing for me is over the 30 years I lived there I saw great changes in the area and unfortunately none for the better. I know there are worse places but leaving Sheffield is not something that saddens me.

Where did you work mike? I used to work at the Aven Tools site, down just past the pit. It was bought out by Sandvik and I worked for them until late 80's when I took redundancy after 27 years in engineering. The weekend camping trips with my mate to the Peak District were what (nearly) kept me sane. We used to volunteer for as many night shifts as we could so that we were able to set off Friday lunchtime and come back Sunday night ready for work Monday night. Happy days.

I've never been to a modelzone before. Just seen there is one in Doncaster. I know it means travelling to Yorkshire from god's county but is it worth a trip? lol

Thread owner
Nooo, you would be traveling INTO Gods County, the true Capitol county of England lol.
