Woke up this morning to a stinging criss-cross pattern of pain on the tip of my left index finger!

I really have to find a different way to trim bits off of models. Once the parts have been cut off of the sprues/trees/frames/call them what you will, there is always a little bit left there that needs to be cut off. This is usually when the uber-sharp modelling knife comes out and the left hand index finger is used to steady the piece.

The stupid thing is I know I'll do the exact same tonight!:fool:

Is this the modelling equivalent of guitar callouses, Drew? I wonder if you're pressing too hard. Hobson's choice though.

Buy a pair of side cutters that cut flat, there are special ones: Sprue cutters. Cut the part off with the flat side of the cutter tight against the part. Then you only need to carefully sand the edges with a sanding stick.

Saves fingers and has the bonus that you cant cut into the part by accident.

Or of course you can follow the first rule of carpentry. Fingers go behind the sharp bits.
