Just found online a old Argos catalogue from 1976...I was five lol. They have some 1/72 scale aircraft: A Corsair, 109 and a couple of WW1 jobbies...all for only £0.99 each-works out a £6.23 in today's money-they also have a rare Airfix T-Hawk glider at £3.99-£25.09 in today's money.

Great stuff, just lost in a world of stuff I wanted as a lad lol.

Back then you could get a BB gun from them too for £7.99-£49.99 in today's money!

A original Black and Decker workmate: £25.75-should be £35.95-£161.93! That is a lot of dosh!

Had to add this one: a Motorola car radio with cassette complete with 2 door speakers: £72.95-that's £458.75 in today's money!

Si:)

2 questions immediately spring to mind :

1) who the hell bothered to put a 1976 Argos catalog online

2) what were you looking for that led you to find it Si?!

Just for a laugh, next time you're passing a store, fill in a order sheet with one of the old catalog numbers & see the confusion it causes!

I remember paying that for 1/72 kits I would have been nine :) it really does amaze me how cheep things were back then but saying that I used to get 50p pocket money and I used to think that was a lot lol mind you you could get fish and chips for 25p back then lol

I can remember fishing all the stuck 10p pieces from the lockers at Chelmsford swimming pool just so that I could buy a kit and a chip butty on the way home. Must have been about 1984!

It's hard to believe back then the prices compared with today's market...So today's average model price £40 ish, how many models and accessories could you have bought? ;)

We're showing our age guys  :P

Lee :)
