discussion Oldie returning to the hobby after nearly 30 years!

Hello everyone! I’m returning to the hobby after a break of around 30 years having been reinspired by my brother-in-law who has also got bitten by the bug to build.

It’s interesting to see how much has changed in the intervening years and how much has remained the same. I’m mainly interested in modern jets, 1/72 scale, just building for fun and my own satisfaction. As an avid brush painter, I’ve already learned a lot by reading the forums and will no doubt learn a lot more in the years to come!

For me as well Charles! Started off building Airfix kits when with my Dad when I was around 6 or 7 I think. Although I have not done any plastic models for 30 years of so, I've been busy with other modelling (r/c planes and helis) between times. Lack of flying spaces close to home, more and more regulations, plus getting older and less mobile were some of reason to get back into this hobby again. And I was spurred on by my brother in law! Anyway really glad I'm back in the game I don't have any high expectations of producing contest wining models - just here to have some relaxed enjoyment.
