I have been collecting and building miniature aeroplanes now for over 65 years and in that time amassed a large variety of model types,although the worlds largest model aircraft collection and museum closed its doors some 5 years ago remnants of the original collection continue whilst the other models were sold off worldwide, going into private collections and museums the collection housed at its peak some 16,000 individual pieces in scales ranging from 1/200th to even a full sized aeroplane although the Guinness book of records never recorded this because I refused to count them with someone like a vicar by my side which is what they stipulated to gain entry into this prestigious tome ! without a doubt it was the worlds largest previously held in the UK by Peter Farrar of Torbay who at its peak held some 2,000 models mostly to 1/72nd scale.
I kept the diecast part of the collection intact and this was supplemented over the years with scratch built models to small scales that fitted in with the Dinky Toy,Mercury,Solido and other small aeroplanes theme,here are some photographs of just a small part of the collection as it exists today,the earliest model was an Airspeed Envoy in Kings Flight colours made by Dinky in the colours of the Royal Household G-AEXX.
The Shorts Belfast model was a limited run I did for the airline Heavylift Cargo.
