we've been through the mill a bit these last few weeks and the wife decided last week that maybe some retail therapy would help us feel better so we trudged off to currys for the new consoles and a bostin stereo for our daughter

I bought the wife a laptop and she asked me what I wanted and I mentioned the tamiya sd kfz 7 with the resin figures and the full kit of the IJN Yamato with the ton of brass

While I'm dealing with the stuff we bought and listening to the bloke trying to sell and failing all the offers they do the wife mentioned something about a vacuum and toddles off

We leave the store and return home

Yesterday the doorbell rings and there is a delivery bloke there with a huge box , on this box are the words Panasonic vira 3D smart TV 55" , I think the guys got the wrong address! But no it's the right address

While I'm dealing with the worst salesman in history she's off talking to the TVs guys and ordering it off her phone

She let me have it early , women are very devious you know

But I did get told where to go when I mentioned if I was still getting the models

She's a good one my Mrs

Thanks for relating that to us Alan, made me chuckle!

We are all coming to yours for Chrimbo!

Just think, you can get this forum on your telly now, you can see all this in full HD.........We better post some better pictures of us all now, HD show warts and all!

55 inch........that's mahoosive!...........thought mine was big at 48:rolleyes:........how can I compete with that:mad:........I feel so inadequate. :( ;) :) ...............

You had me going for a minute there Alan I thought you had got the Yamato, but I'd still be glad with the little telly.

It's nice to get some surprises now and again.

Nice one mate, she is a sly one. Big telly...no models...hmmmmm...no models....suppose it will have to do:rolleyes:

Cheers guys

Oh and I have models I handed a list to my kids and wife in September and some parcels have arrived that sound like kits when you shake them :D and my eldest just took me to the LHS and said choose something so I chose the master box German staff car with officers, it looks very nice :)

I got the wife a blu Ray rewriter to go with her laptop:)

@Dave Jay I just noticed your only down the road from me

Alan, she hasn't actually said she won't be getting you the models has she?

As you point out women can be very devious, so all is not lost - until perhaps there are no big boxes at the end of your bed come Chrizzy morning!

Guys , guys , I'm happy with the TVs :D I doubt I'd get the ones I asked for as the sd kfz 7 is over £100 and Yamato is over £200 so I think it's safe to say I won't be getting them

But if I know my Mrs I'll get some smaller ones :D

You will love it mate, especially if you've not seen 3d before, of course you will need a 3d blueray player now for all those films (clash of the titans is awesome in 3d, some of the 3d films are naff though) I bought mine about 2 YRS ago from the sale of one of my models, Mrs wants a 60 inch now, I keep telling her it won't fit where our 55 inch is as we've only got 1/2 inch either side of the telly. I would never go back to normal telly again 3d is awesome. Happy viewing mate.

Ps get a sound bar, it's just like being in the cinema.

I agree Ken , I had a 3D 32" and said as soon as we get the chance I wanted a bigger one , this one I've been blessed with even turners normal tv into 3D it's not as good as real 3D but it works , I've got a 600 watt total output cinema theatre system so I'm used to good sound :)

Ps sound bars are crap the sound is in one place just like the TV 3D cinema surround is what to get it's great for psychological thrillers:)

We have a sound bar with a wireless remote subwoofer and I defy anyone to come round our house and tell the difference between it and a cinema theater system (admittedly its not a cheap one) and it was matched to the teliy the sub woofer is 500 watts and the sound bar is 300 watts, at half volume the floor and the back of the couch we sit in vibrates, I would definitely not call it crap.

The sound is good on them I will admit that but you don't get the same sound from behind you without speakers there , I like the sound of bullets whizzing past my ear and hitting the wall behind me or the creek of a floorboard when your watching a horror movie:)

Wife's are brilliant ( devious and sometimes damright evil ) Oct past we decided to go see my mother who was 70 ( total surprise we drove 6 hrs to see her ) well we set off at about 9in the morning and when we nearing Carlisle the wife says ( oops no jewellery on no wedding ring eternity etc etc ) we are 85 miles into our surprise visit journey so that put me in a downer, couldn't turn around so continued to Northampton. Now I don't like a wife to have no jewellery and as we had arrived the day before the party she got whole new set of rings and earrings bracelet etc etc etc

( I could have bought a 55imch 3DTv surround sound speaker set for that and still got change to buy the SdKfz 7 at £100

All I get for my very expensive visit was " I love you"

You know what though she's worth every penny ( do not tell this to your wife's or I guarantee she wil forget some piece of jewellery next time your out!!!

Oh and I don't think I'm getting a tank or plane for xmas although I've hinted at a few ideas

Cheers

Robert

lol........I wondered when you would notice me! :)

I'm over at Roselands, sniffing distance from a certain fried chicken outlet and the golden arches of a burger joint!.......I don't frequent them, honest! ;)

Our sub woofer is behind the couch, and I can assure you we hear knives and bullets whizzing past our ears too. I once was l ike you and thought sound bars were rubbish (the early ones maybe were) but this is definitely not crap, I don't know the technical jargon but apparently the six speakers in the sound bar are all angled so that sound bounces off the walls and the sub woofer fills any gaps.
