Where did the name Warhog come from for the A10 Aircraft that the Americans fly?
 
I think its Warthog and in reply to your question its probably due to the planes looks! Have you ever seen a warthog; Kind of thing only its mother finds good looking. Short fat solid and kills thing. Pretty much sums up the A10 too!

It is indeed Warthog, also known as the tank buster, its proper name is the A-10 Thunderbolt made by Fairchild Republic. Its not very fast, or very pretty, but it is extremely effective!

Hey Gavin I remember attending an airshow at Prestwick Airport and seen one it isnt a pretty sight and yes they are slow also they have the nickname of Squaddie killers by our boys.
