No you don't! Ignorance is the bet policy.
Could not agree with you more Steve and I seemed to have it in buckets. Plus they get re-filled up every time I try to empty them.

My internet is still down, using cellphone tethering in the meantime. Something to do with a local exchange point. I'll leave that to the people with the overalls and high foreheads to sort out.

How did you get on Laurie? Did you get an opportunity to read through some of the Microsoft pages on recovering .dbx files? The link Si provided seems a good one for reading the messages you have archived. As for preventing it from archiving in future, I found this, but again it depends on the version you are using etc.

An earlier version:

1. 'Tools' menu => select 'Options'

2. Select and click the 'Other' tab

3. Click on 'Auto archive'

4. Uncheck the 'Auto archive every' check box

5. Click OK twice

For a later version:

1. 'File' menu => select 'Options'

2. Click on 'Advanced' on the left then click on 'Auto Archive Settings'

3. Uncheck 'Run Auto Archive every' check box

4. Click OK twice

Hope this helps Laurie. If yours is different it will have a similar process no doubt.
