discussion Paint leak under masking tape

Seen that I a few days off I thought it's about time I did a model, I've got HMS Royal Oak, before I put the hull together I thought it better to paint it, grey top part first, hull red bottom, so far so good, then I went to put the black line down, I thought the masking tape was down properly and none of the edges lifted, but I was wrong, where parts of the hull are raised paint has leaked, I tried to clean it up but wasn't happy so have stripped it all back to plastic and I'm going to start again

What is the best way to get a Sharpe black line?

Put a coat of the base colour along the edge of the tape, so if it leaks it doesn't matter.

I always brush over the edges with humbrol clear to seal

As its such a thin line between the 2 colours I will try clear
