Hi everyone, I need some advice on painting model dirt tracks. I have been watching a YouTube video called How to create realistic dirt tracks by the Terrain Tutor. At (time stamp) 22:11, he begins by adding a mix of paints to do a wet brush over the track. Can you tell me if the paints on the paint look like an acrylic wash and can you tell me how he gets what seem like a dirty yellow effect, rather than a grey effect which is what I seem to be getting. Do you see what I mean? Thanks

Do you mean making tracks dirty?
Do you mean dirty as in oily grimy? Or muddy?

For oily i use a wash of some sort but needs a little prep if they are vinyl........ For muddy i use pigments

I think you can use any sort of paint TBH, eg: acrylic, enamel, oil, etc.
I tend to blend several colours, to get a dirty surface, eg: blacks, light browns, mid browns, dark browns, for muds, etc.
To get a wet look you can use a gloss varnish. Plus there are various "wet" products. You can also use PVA as it dries clear.
There are also many products to get a dirty, wet, muddy look, eg: Ammo/Mig mud paste/filler, or you can also use various oil, dirt, washes and pigments. Good luck with it....

This one was built up as described above, it was a sort of woodland track for a small re-supply dump for a Commando jeep patrol.
