Scale Model Shop

Paul's Schreiber-Bogen 1/24 Frankfurt Fire Dept Mercedes 170V

I thought the results were amazing. It brought back memory of my abortive efforts at card models way back in my early model RR days.

Gentle steam and twist worked for me Paul.

Might well be worth a punt, at least......

But as others have written, good skills, no matter what.

The plan at the moment is to build it, then try the steam trick. If it works, great, if not, it's no great loss.

However, building has slowed to a crawl.

I've just started on the wheels - the card modeller's version of tank tracks.

I'm relieved to report that this has got the old heave-ho (or rather it's been abandoned in a forgotten corner). I was finding it very heavy going - I didn't enjoy it one bit! I got no further than the last photo.

I feel (a tiny bit) guilty for abandoning my first GB. I'm hoping you'll all forgive me on the grounds that we all know this hobby is supposed to be fun!

Paul,
That's a pity it was looking good and something different. If it's any consolation I would have given up a lot earlier ;)

Paul. Don't worry. Been there, done that! (See bin!)

These card kits can be the devil's own work. There is no doubt they are very difficult to work with.
But one has to try these things to find out just how frustrating they can be.

So don't give the abandonment a single thought. At least you had the balls to have a go....And that's all that matters. :thumb2:

Don't confine it to a corner, burn the bu***r! Then get yerself a kit you will enjoy putting together - And have fun in so doing!

Cheers.
Ron
