Revell do not supply pilot figures for their models. I like to have these as they give the proportionate scaling of the model.

Can any one point me in the direction of a supplier ?.

Matter of interest do Tamiya supply figures in their models ?

Thanks.

Laurie

Very few kits these days include a pilot figure. This is due to the tendency for models to be posed wheels down and canopy open to show off all that lovely detail.

Some kits, like the big Tamiya Spitfire or Hasegawa's Bf109F H-J Marseille special will include a figure, not seated as in piloting the 'plane, which can be posed with the aircraft to give a sense of scale.

There are after market figures from various eras avilable. What scale are you looking for?

It's a shame about not getting pilots anymore, specially for those of us who still hang 'em from the ceiling (planes, not pilots!) It's not right seeing pilotless planes in the sky.

(I'm not the only one who still hangs them....am I?, the wife won't have them in the house so I boarded out the garage roof to hang them from)

Anyway, to get back to the point I too am looking for 1:48 scale pilots from all eras if anyone has any pointers.

This French company does seated 1/48 pilots from various eras.

Figurines 1/48

I'm sure Verlinden do some 1/48 seated pilots in some of their sets too, certainly Luftwaffe, not sure about the others.

I thought ICM and Revell do a pack that contains groundcrew and aircrew?

Do they include seated pilots? I don't think the Hasegawa set does.

Cheers

The ICM 1/48 soviet ground crew and pilots set does include 1 seated pilot suitable for putting in an aircraft and about 7 other various standing, working etc personnel (I think this is also a re-issue of a Alanger set so thats another one to look for) In 1/72 the revell luftwaffe pilots and ground crew is a similar story, one seated pilot plus several climbing in to the cockpit type poses and a couple stood up. Laurie, the older tamiya issues sometimes have a pilot, the 1/48 mitsubishi J2M3 raiden for example has a seated pilot plus a standing one, but i think most of their newer releases dont have anything unless its a special boxing as steve said. For all the stick the old airfix kits get,at least that was the one area that was very good-their pilots were always nicely detailed and ALWAYS included!! cheers tony

No in the Revell they are all standing. But thanks Steve for the Figuarines which do have "sitters". They do these in 1/72/48/32.

And always in the same pose which looked suspiciously like he was playing with his joy stick rather than the aircraft's!

LOL !! Yeah, and it was a bugger if it was a 2 seater ,they were both in the exact same pose , unless you altered (mutilated!) them by softening the plastic with a candle and repositioning their limbs and heads ,which usually made them look like some sort of double jointed alien with a melted face.Which always made me laugh!! tony

I'm in the process of building a 1:48 Tamiya P47D Thunderbolt, complete with pilot.
