My daughter has been keen to make a model recently, so I bought her a cheap Airfix Red Arrow Hawk kit.

Now to me, the most important colour match would be the red, right? Well this was the colour Airfix had down as red....lol

WOW a full pot of paint!

You just have to paint it with that colour

Is that mixed? If so maybe it'll dry a bit better?

If it doesn't there's no rule to say your daughter can't have a pink aircraft.....it'd look quite good.

Keep us up to date with her progress OK mate. :)

Yeah, I mixed it up for a good few mins, but it just didn't go any darker red.

I let her use my tamiya red (x7) instead.

I would paint a sample and see what it dries like. It may well darken. If it doesn't you can repaint her Sindy car with it!!

It didn't darken very well. I had to use some proper paint on it...and yes, will touch up the Barbie motor home at the same time :)

Shame it didn't work out, straight from the tin, but it's all a learning curve.

It sure is! It doesn't install any confidence in a new modeler when the paint isn't even the right colour. She is only 9 after all

Yep, these models are supposed to get you into modelling...not think what's the chuffing point. Write to Airfix, include the paint and show them the crap colour it is, you may get a freebie back... ;)

It'll probably be a crappy 1/72 blue plastic spitfire than has more flash than pieces and fits like a square peg in a round hole, they'll tell you its their 'new moulding' too.

That's what I got ... Twice!!

Gave one away and used the other for the 'crash' SIG.

:) :) :)
