Problem posting pics to the gallery - strange error message

Is anyone having problems posting pictures to the gallery ?

Unable to move file [/tmp/phpDsuzuQ] -> [/var/www/vhosts/scale-models.co.uk/httpdocs/gallery/uploads/8529/IMG_0372.JPG]

is the message I get when attempting a post. I have even tried with an old pic which is already in the gallery (so I know it's not a problem caused by the pic) and still get the same message.
