I suppose it goes with the territory but this weekend I've been screwed over for £1000 well I would have been if I hadn't checked a bit further.

Fortunately I caught 2 of the 3 fraudsters/ thieves or what ever you want to call them, unfortunately I missed the 3rd and have been screwed over for £350 this weekend thanks to non-modellers that thought it would be good to rip me off.

It pisses me off that people think its ok to rip companies off regardless of their size, I have to make quite a few sales to get that loss back.

On the plus side most people that buy from me are genuine people that aren't after a fast buck.

End of rant, putting it down to experience.

Well that's crap mate .... I feel your pain as ive been done over in the past myself providing services from my computer company.

Its a grin and bear it situation I'm afraid and use the experience to prepare for the future.

Some people are total scrotes !!!

*edit* I'd quite happily send you a fiver ..... all you need is 69 others to do it and you're back in the black ..... call it a thanks for providing a decent forum.

I don't have much, but, I too would be more than happy to send you another £5, just 68 to go...

Im not asking for people to send anything, just venting my frusrtrations. The thing that gets me and these thieving scrotes aren't to know is that they aren't ripping off a big business that can cover these losses easy, it will take me ages to cover that.

Hey John, that is no good mate. I hope karma catches up soon with those scum who ripped, or tried to, rip you off. How do they rip you off online though? I could imagine shoplifting etc in a physical shop, but struggle to think how that has happened on a virtual basis? You always get payment before sending? Anyway, I'll buy something from you when I get into a new house and settle down again.

I thought that people paying via paypal is good but it doesn't seen so, if they pay by card through paypal then it can be revoked. :(

Ah, I see. Paypal has been associated with so many issues over the years, I used it once many years ago and got bombarded with huge amounts of spam and phishing scams, no idea how they knew that I used it but I never did so again and never will. Even though it incurs charges from the bank I still prefer the credit card or bank transfer process. It's safer for me and safer for the retailer it would seem.

People take diabolical liberties. The new tenant across the road is have a house warming - no harm in that. Except that he's letting is donation to humanity play football in the street at half past midnight and just booted the ball against my car and house. The ball's in my back garden now with a carving knife through it.

Joe, generally paypal are 100% no problems, I've used them for 3 years, it's how cards are processed that seems to be the problem, if you pay through your own paypal account then there is no problem, but some people seem to be able to bypass the normal security.

John ... I'm not offering you charity just a genuine offer of thanks..

You did the right thing posting it up.

Now you've said its PayPal well this is one of the reasons I don't use it any more.... and another instance of me being ripped off in 2005 ... I paid for some computer components from a guy in Poland .... within four days there was 2400 quid gone out my account ... loads of debits with the same paypal reference, all in multiples of 150 (ie 300 450 etc) but from different names (all eastern European sounding)

Got in touch with PayPal and they did what they said they would .... returned 500 of it coz it was on the same reference ....that was it, even my brief said they'd kept to their side of the bargain and I couldn't get any further.

Its crap.

Colin since PayPal was taken over by ebay it does seem rock solid, I've not heard any bad things about it, my case is covered by them to a point, but I guess even they can't catch every stolen card.

Didn't know eBay had paypal ... I must keep up with things :)

Anyway good look with the claim mate.

Provided you've followed all the rules and regulations and can prove criminal activity John, I don't see how Paypal can avoid paying you back for your loss. They must have the account details for where the money came from, all they need to do is cancel the payback surely? If they can take back money from you, they can take it back from the criminal just as easily.

Failing that, you can do what the rest of us do when we're ripped off - take your business elsewhere. If enough people refuse to use their services, Paypal will go bust - or they'll get their act together to stop this type of crime.

Yes ebay/paypal now seems a lot safer,I too got ripped off a few years ago . Sorry for your loss John hope they catch up with the other perp.

sorry to hear about your news john hopefully they get screwed one day.just hope you can get the money back soon

Just a thought John. Presumably you've sent goods to these folks and therefore have an address. Wouldn't it be possible to get the local police to see who receives them?

Gern

That sucks. I hope you can get something back.

I don't see why you would feel guilty about posting and the offers were obviously genuine and well meaning from some nice and well meaning people. I'd do the same :)

I, like most people try to see the best in others, but sometimes that means we get bitten on the arse. Sadly there is some scum out there, thankfully it's a small minority.

Steve

This sort of thing really pees me off ! There are people out there who would steel your wallpaper if they could get it off the wall!

Sorry to hear you got robbed John , I need a few bits and bobs so ill take a look on in the shop.

John sorry to hear about this but Karma is a bitch and it will come back to bite them in the ass hard and painfully.
