Hi peeps, advice please, I have a Proxxon Airbrush...I used it briefly awhile ago, not sure about the compressor, it rattles and clonks and gets hot quickly.

Anyone had dealings with said contraption? Advice, tips, hints, gripes all great fully recieved.

Thanks

Lee :)

I had a Proxxon AB and compressor-tank-less with a alloy protrusion that the air line came from. It also rattled and got hot, the AB I found was okay, single action with a couple of tanks. I sold it ages ago and did without until getting back into modelling. I know they are expensive, well £80+ if you get one now.

Lee, my AS 186 compressor gets hot quickly, not helped by this glorious weather! I just put a fan near it and it's fine.

...or maybe persuade swmbo to let me have a new one...guess it'll be a cold day in hell!!! :(

Any compressor will produce heat but not much from the moving parts. The compression of air actually removes the heat from the air which is being compressed. One reason why condensation is a risk as the cold compressed air omitted into the hose condenses any water vapour it holds.

The compressor is the heart of a heat pump. The higher the temperature the more, in the case of an airbrush compressor, unwanted heat the compressors extracts. Natures natural trade off.

Providing the compressor is used intermittently then the compressor parts should not be affected more likely is the deterioration of the electrical parts.
