Nice pics Si close up on bee very good ,used to take some nature photos bugs, fungi and sutch like.

What nice photo's Si. I too love gardening. Here are a few pictures from our garden. The bridge I built from scratch, using decking boards and the sides are from marine ply. The windmill, I built from a kit, the sails and top part revolve on ball bearings, when the wind catches it. The cart wheel bench came from the Range as a self assembly item. Enjoy

Nor me mate that's why I asked , I remember seeing loads as a kid but I don't see so many now

Having looked at that Bee again, I think Alan is right, it's just a Bumble Bee. Queen Honey Bees never venture out of the hive, unless they swarm to find a new home, then they fly with the whole swarm.

very nice pics Si,what a nice thing to see in your garden, :)

I have noticed over the past few years very few bee,s about,in the garden,at all,

well what a very nice garden you do have Geoff, nice Japanese look to it, ;)

Thank you Monica, much appreciated. :D

Great pics Si and Geoff bumble bees are a separate species, queen bees look nothing like a bumble bee, of course they are different again to masonry bees ( they areca really pest, you'd been amazed the mess they can make of a wall.

Would love a garden like that, nice pics
Thanks guys. I just built the pond and stuff. SWMBO looks after the planting side. By the way, we have had a new fence, since those photos were took.

Nice photos Si. I'm on the look out for wasps looking for homes, I have my lighter and a can of air spray ready. Last year we had a wasp issue, this year I'm going to control the border :)

I'm okay with you incinerating wasps, but spare the bees, we need these for pollinating and I Love Honey! :D

The deepest part of the pond is 3ft and the most ice that has formed on the surface, has been no thicker than an inch, when it freezes. During the winter months from Nov to March, I use a pond heater that works on a timer switch, so it comes on about 6pm and goes off at 8 am. It only uses 20 watts and will keep at least a two foot area around the heater from freezing, up to minus 20 degrees C, so the fish won't starve of oxygen. Simples! :D

we had up to 6ft of ice on our local lakes last winter, but I will admit that that was the coldest winter up here I can remember. Seems every year it gets worse and worse, it's only the first week of August and already the leaves are turning and starting to fall, so much for global warming ayeo_O
