Don't want to pour salt on the wound here, but it flew a display when it arrived on Friday. This makes me think there may have been a problem with it and it went Unservicable.

Hi I was there as well, problem with the Vulcan is that it hasn't got everything tested yet. As it is classed as a civil aircraft (and lack of radar I think??) it has to fly within CAA rules, which is 2000 feet cloud cover and 5 miles visibility!! According to one chap in the Vulcan promo tent.

A bit of a dissapointment but at least I got to see her moving.

It is going to cost £1.65 million to keep her flying for next year!!

Here's the wesite :- Vulcan to the Sky Trust - Avro Vulcan Bomber XH558 - Vulcan Operating Company

Oh yeah she still does that....full throttle into a vertical climb right above the road at the West end of the field, into a half loop. A real proper Vulcan shriek!!!!!!

YUMMY!!!

I can recall a display many years ago.....that big ol' thing banked along the crowd line, bomb bay wide open, and climbed in the turn, the awesome rumble could be felt thru your chest!!! Incredible, the ground could be felt shaking under your feet, and the sound of car alarms going off in the car park....dozens of em!!! Fan-bloody-tastic!! I donated to this rebuild, I hope everyone here has or will?

I paid via PayPal through their website, they sent me a load of bumpf asking for more money, but no thank you for the money I sent!! That annoyed me a little. I'd also donated to the Bluebird Project, and received a hand signed letter, I only donated a tenner to them too!

The reason for the grounding can be found HERE

Got to RAF Leuchars section on the right hand side. An engine is on the way out, now and needs replacing....looks like more shows to be missed....they're having a few problems all round, it seems.

Andyroo, they are training another pilot to fly the thing, surely it'll be in the air a while longer yet?!!

It has just had a DOUBLE engine change, as it is based at Brize Norton at the time being, due to facilities, and has flown at least 10-15 times in the last 2 months!

Really gutted that you guys arn't getting to see it as much, especially having donated to it!
