Thanks Ian. It's nice having a one piece hull, and kit has gone together fine so far..

Don't know about a master class. But as you can see, she's a waterline model, so will probably look better in some kind of 'water.'

Just the guns to add to the platforms, and then it's all diddy LCP's, masts, cranes and derricks....and a forest of rigging!

Next, I'll get the brush out and finish painting the ship. The beauty of brush painting is the fact that (apart from obvious inaccessible places) virtually the whole ship can be built before any painting is required. Once done, I can then turn my attention to the rigging, landing craft and all the gubbins that goes with them.

I've been tempted by this one a couple of times. Have you come across any build problems? Obviously if you had, you've solved them, but for those of us with more average skills ......

The fit was generally spot on. The only negatives thus far are:-

A) loads of seams to clean up from where the plastic has 'Run'.....Old moulding, I suppose.
B) Lots of little raised circles of plastic ( I don't know what they're called) on the decks. Some of which were impossible to get at to file away without damaging the deck surface.
C) For some reason there are numerous locating holes in the decks with nothing left in the kit to shove into them!
D) The railing detail is solid plastic and looks naff.

For someone more fussy than me, the kit would be a ball ache and would probably end up in the bin, but as I just open the box and try my best, I'm not too bothered.
....but if anyone is very fussy about the end result - leave well alone.

Despite the above tale of woe, and because it's something different, I'm really enjoying the build - Honest.

Don't get me wrong, Dave, it does make up into a nice enough model. It's just all the excessive cleaning up etc., and some rather basic detail that gives it low marks.

But, if like me, you're not too fussy about end results, and just have fun making models, then it makes for an 'interesting' project.....

Well - p'raps if I find one very cheap ........

I'd like to have a go at some sort of ship that's not a warship or cruise liner. The other one I've seen is the Trumpeter SS John W Brown - and that's the opposite of this one with far too much fiddly detail!

Good fun to build, and as there was no rigging plan, I made one up - No doubt nothing like the real thing.

P.E. wallahs would probably have a ball with this kind of kit, but I just build OOB. So, no frills, what you see is what you get.....
