Heres the Revell FW190 f-8 with BV246 Hagelkorn glide bomb , not a totally modern release ( tooled in 1997 but with extra parts in 2008 ) but still widely available. The box features a nicely done picture of an f-8 variant in spotty desert camo . The end opening box contains three sprues in a light grey blue plastic and two clear sprues ,each with a canopy and screen ( one blown , one flat ), instructions and decals.
The instructions are usual Revell , booklet style with exploded diagrams ,black and white paint guides and colour call outs in Revells own paints and ,helpfully, cross referenced with RLM numbers on the paint guide.
The parts are nicely detailed with recessed panel lines and rivets and a very reasonable cockpit with raised console details and raised instrument panel . The seat has rudimentary moulded on belts and there is a decal for the instrument panel too if so required . The rest of the details are quite finely done with nice renderings in the wheel wells and good wheels with treaded tyres . There is a slight bit of flash in places but its to be expected of an older tooling and isnt major. As with the Airfix previously reviewed , there are some iffy sprue gate placements , again the cowling nose ring has attachment points that overlap onto the part requiring very careful removal and clean up. The Hagelkorn glide bomb is on a separate sprue ( this was the extra parts added in 2008 ) and is nicely done . There are 2 decal options , the desert sand / green spots F-8 and an A-8 test machine from Karlshagen with the BV246 glide bomb in RLM 74/75 over RLM 7. The decals are printed in Italy for Revell ( probably cartograf) and are very comprehensive with a fair few stencils but as is the norm with Revell no swastikas so you’ll have to source your own if you want to include them . Past experience shows that these decals will perform flawlessly .
