Hi all, I'm after a wee bit of advice regarding the above mentioned paint. I got me a couple of pots for an up coming build but have never used it before so: can you airbrush with it? What can you dilute it with and to what ratio.

All advice welcome

Regards

Chris

yes ,you can airbrush it but it needs quite a bit of thinning,i dilute it with tamiya thinners and get better results than thinning with water. the only problems i get is with the metallics as they dont seem to like being thinned and go lumpy. never been able to spray any of these. i dont thin to a ratio, just add a bit of thinner to the colour cup on the airbrush and mix till it looks thin enough. mainly guesswork

Hi Chris. as Andrew says you can spray with these paints, I do it all the time. Ive thinned this like Andrew does with Tamiya thinners, also with water, but Ive had the best results with Revells own thinner its called Aqua Colour Mix, this has a retarder in it which slows down the setting of the paint and makes it more airbrush friendly. Also like Andrew I've found the ratio of thinner can be different from pot to pot, I try for a milk like consistency and go with that, overall I like them and get good results with them. Not tried spraying the metallics, looks like they're a different kettle of fish. M

I've airbrushed with these paints quite a bit. I only ever thin them with water (mostly because if I spray with anything like Tamiya thinners in I have to either do it outside or spend the rest of the evening coughing) and they work just fine. As the others have said, because the consistency in the pots can be so variable, it is a case of just continuing to add water until you get the right consistency - I've found that this can easily be a 50:50 paint/water ratio.
