Just catching up on this thread, Marc, it's looking really good. The whole grille/headlights assembly looks great.

Well an update. I think I have got the body how I want it to be, it's not 100% how I'd like it but it's the best I can achieve with my current skill levels and capabilities I have made a huge number of mistakes but I'm learning from them and my next model should be a major improvement.

The new airbrush was in fact a huge learning curve. It took hours of fiddling with the spray pattern to get it right, I experimented with two finishes humbrol clear and gloss coat with thinners. I had to disassemble the brush a couple of times to clean it, which was nerve wracking also.

Humbrol clear was easy to apply, but it was not a durable enough surface. So I rubbed down and tried humbrol gloss with thinners, it resulted in a much harder surface on curing and was much better in my opinion.

Once finished I gave a light rub with 3000 grit, then a hit soapy wash.

I then went over with kiddies toothpaste equivalent to using a 6000 rubbing compound, and a final buff with autoGlyn deep shine.

This is coming along nicely Marc............. Superb job you are doing on it matey.......... When you finish it put it in a Dio ....... " 12 Year Old Joyriders in McDonalds Car Park doing burnouts"

Great work on the trim, I have a Meng Toyota that I've put off because of such things. The white looks really smooth and crisp and the windshield as well.

Thanks mate. Is that the pickup? I started making some silly mistakes on it last night I think I have been doing it for too long. I started yesterday morning at 10 am and continued working on it all day with some breaks in between until 11 pm last night.

The black and white does look striking. There are some touch ups that need to be done along the wheel arches and some of the black trim and there are some patches of clear coat that need some attention but it's coming along.

Yep, the pickup with a Russian mg mounted on the tray. I understand the marathon bench time mate, gotta take them breaks. My wife yells at me if I'm at the bench longer than a few hours.
