Built out of the box with a bit of weathering which I didn’t want to too far with. I figured that German armour in the week after D-day would still have been in relatively good condition. So, no leaks, spills, rust or chipping.
This is my first 1/35 tank in nearly 40 years so I’m aware it probably isn’t that accurate but that wasn’t the point. This was a subject I wanted to have a go at because it’s one of my rites of passage list.
I hate rubber band tracks.
Built for my model club’s D-Day group build and I completed it on time.

For your first 1/35 tank after 40 years, if be very pleased with yourself. Very well done indeed.

If so, how did you fit the engine? I had to cut the top off mine!

Very smart , in fact smart enough for The Dogs, sorry it's not on this tablet , I will rectify the issue in the morning Rick .

Done , congratulations .

This is the Airfix boxing Dave. The instructions didn’t reference an engine, but then again they were pretty vague.
Academy released it in a few versions, one of them with a more-or-less complete interior. I guess the Airfix rebox doesn’t include that, and TBH that’s not a great loss. It had so many simplifications and omissions for convenience that it was at best an impression anyway. The engine has the odd problem that its air filter has been reduced in height quite noticeably, but it apparently still doesn’t fit because it’s too tall. For some reason Academy put it into the hull too high, but rather than reduce the bottom in height, where it can’t be seen, they did that at the top, which will be obvious to just about everyone who compares it to a picture of the real thing — or even to the separate engine Tamiya released back then too.

Of course, if you care about an accurate Tiger, then this one is not a good choice anyway, as it has also has the wrong turret shape, since it(s research) appears to date from before the correct one was “discovered”.
