Don't know if this is colourised or not,but it looks pretty good.

So, is that a light bluey grey and a darker mid grey? What happened to the grey/green or grey/brownish colour..... I hate colours, if I knew how, I would do all my WWII stuff in black & white lol.

Can be certain but I'd say it's colourised. It's a really good job, probably the best I've seen, but I haven't seen many. The sky looks odd.

I have my suspicions. The lighter grey isn't right to my eye but on a model it would be fine. There's always a risk of getting a bit to serious about these things!!! I've not seen a B+W original of this image which is ,of course,a dead giveaway.

Graham, I saw a beautiful Spitfire done in "black and white" a while ago. It might have been in a magazine,I don't remember. It was a really impressive job and he'd matched the model to an original black and white reference using shades of grey. It can be done.

I have also seen the black and white model Steve but for the life of me, I cannot remember where. I do remember it as being a stunning piece of work though.

Nice photo Stona! Very interesting one that I can't recall ever seeing before. Looks like Pips Priller talking with Kurt Tank. Notice that there is a touch up on the aerilon and the ground crew neglected to match the correct shade! Shame on them!(perhaps because the rest of the wing has faded)

Certainly looks like Tank and Priller. I didn't scan the image,it's not in any of my books, and have lost where it came from. It is labelled as "Fw190A2,JG26 France 1942". I believe Priller went to JG26 late in 1941 (December?) so the time frame is correct too. Tank (and Focke Wulf) always maintained a close relationship with front line units.

Edit. Kurt Tank and his chief engineer Rudolph Blaser visited JG26 in September 1942 at Wevelgbem in Belgium. Maybe this is the occasion captured here and the image is mislabelled. Wouldn't be the first time!

I'm sure I saw a Hurricane done in the black and white converted from a photo. it was on britmodeller a few years ago, I've not been on there in ages so I dunno if it's still there...

Take a paint chart, scan it into your PC open the photo editing software and change to grey tone or desaturate the Cr"p out of it.

Instant "colour" chart with 100 shades of grey! :bounce:

back in my youth, befor it was miss-spent, I used to paint (pictures) and did a landscape in black and white. In oils if I recall. So it can be done.
