Scribe-R [RB-T019] - €6.00 : RB Productions Store, Scale models and accessories by Radu Brinzan

Has anyone used this? I have abandoned my Tamiya scriber because it produces re-scribed panel lines in 1/72 plastic which are grossly oversized.

If you have used it, can it re-scribe panel lines in scale with 1/72?

Thanks

I use a medium needle in a pin vice, I have also been trying out a metal working scribe I got from Machine Mark for a couple of pounds, just two or three light passes seem to be ok. Of course then you have to clean up the plastic as it just scratches lines not cut a groove. Try the needle on a piece of scrap and see what you think. Here is one it did that way

As you can see the panel lines are quite fine,

Sorry Stevekir. If the panel lines you get from the Tamiya scriber are to deep/wide, you are pressing to hard. Before you go using all you hard earned, take a bit of scrap plastic and play with the Tamiya one. I'm not expert at it but I found that It can scribe very fine lines.

Well, I have practiced again on plastic water piping using very light pressure and can now get very fine rescribed panel lines in my model, which is good because sanded-out lines are a give-away. As you both say, I was pressing too enthusiastically.

To Bari, I have used a pin or needle in places for smaller problems.

Thanks folks.

See you could do it!! :-) And you have saved a few bob.
