An interesting study of marine corrosion that the marine modellers might find inteesting. If you imagine this at a 1/35th scale it would still be quite subtle and this is very excessive rusting. Worth noting all the lines are very vertical and there is a concentration around the boot topping and the hawse pipe.

Don't strip it, the rust is all that is holding that thing together by the looks of it.
