I've never considered selling a model. I've built a very few to order, but either just about covered material expenses or asked for nothing at all. I certainly didn't profit, let alone cover the 'cost' of the hours put in to them.

I'm surprised that there is a market for completed models. For me the fun is in the making, but I suppose it takes all sorts.

Amati are a Italian maker and are normally excellent quality, they come with brass etchings etc. The Amati Titanic, 1/250 IIRC is around £350, so this kit will have been £300 + probably nearer the £450 + mark.

Trumpeter make very good kits in the main, but I'm guessing there's a Trumpy kit of this subject that doesn't quite cut the mustard - hence his comment!

Selling kits seems to be a very hit and miss affair. If you're selling the right kit at the right time you could make money - if!


Most times I'd guess you won't get what they're worth in terms of the time and skill you put into them - but if you need to clear out your display shelf, whatever you get is a bonus you can put towards your next one.

I've seen a completed Trumpeter Bismarck on sale for $12,000 so that one is a snip!


I know there are some issues with Trumpeter's Bismarck, which might require a bit of work, but show me a kit which doesn't have some

Have you tried lead filling them? they won't work otherwise, that's maybe why they are not selling. :/

After all the time I spend building my models I just cannot part with them. They mean to much to me even my first build a Tiffy Typoon not so hot in the skills at that time.
I only build those which mean something and I have a reason to build them. I normally find out all I can about them the history . So they become to me precious. Every now and then I look them over and they bring back memories not only building them but what I was doing at that stage in my life.


So none are for sale.


Matter of interest what do they go for . May say that that is not going to change my mind.

I was in the model shop the other day and saw the pre made models that sell for a lot more than the kits, they look gash (turd smilies not available).


You could sell a lot of the kits I've seen on here as they look way better guys
