They were inspired by one of my aunts reminiscing about how as a child, she used to play with the chains on the tank, banging them against it to make loud noise:

Brilliant. I've seen a couple of models of a Sherman Flail tank at shows but none as good as this. The chains are superb. It deserves to be on show in a museum where I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Is this the first model that took part in two group builds?

Two years isn't that long I had a ship for ten years and never finished it.

Oh, same — I’ve got models 20+ years old that aren’t finished, but I still know exactly what I was going to do with them

Brilliant. I've seen a couple of models of a Sherman Flail tank at shows but none as good as this. The chains are superb.

They really make the model, I think. Without them it’s a decent enough model, with them it’s a much better one, if I say so myself.

It deserves to be on show in a museum where I'm sure it will be appreciated.

At the moment, it is in a museum Not sure about the appreciation, because I’ve already observed there that your average person has no idea whatsoever what goes into making something like this. Just before I put it into the display case this afternoon, I had to explain to someone what a model kit looks like unbuilt. Luckily, I had my iPad with me and could show photos of unbuilt kits, sprues etc.

They would actually be the age of my parents But like I said, inspired by the way my aunt (born 1943) used to play on and around the actual tank that I built this model of.

I’ve been wanting for years to make one of the Leopard 2s that won the Canadian Army Trophy in the 1980s, with a Netherlands flag painted across the entire grille on the hull rear:
