Tamiya Side Cutter for Plastic - 74001 - £17.09

Are the tamiya side cutters worth the money?

Or what about these

I'll be honest with you mate, they look the spit of a pair that I bought from my local cheapo shop for £1! Thought probably these are better, they must be coz they're more expensive!

My way of cutting stuff from sprues is to use a very sharp knife and rest the part on a cushion of blue-tack (well the cheap equivalent!) which both supports the part so it doesn't move & prevents it flying into the jaws of the carpet monster!

I use a pair of decent electrical side cutters that I got from a discount tool store (Toolman in Stirchley for anyone in Brum) for about a fiver and they do the job very well. I can't believe the Tamiya ones would do it any better. You may well be paying for the brand. A bottle of wine or two sound like a good idea!

Cheers
