Definitely the best forums around, friendly people, great advice and help whenever you need it

Cheers, Andrew

I think it will be almost 2 years at Christmas time that I have been here (but I have been away for a year due to the birth of my daughter).

I joined to see the skill level of others, and the fantastic pieces of work that can be created out of some shaped plastic bits!

Lots of ideas floating around, support and encouragement.

Getting back into my modelling now (I have some table space...yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh), so its good to see what peeps have been building

wish i could remember how i found the place....probably googling for some reference or other.............wish i had found the place earlier

its a very friendly place without the bs and oneupmanship and egos that happen on other sites

im on 5 forums.....all are very very different....two are car dominated.....1 is aircraft dominated....one is armour dominated...............and then theres here which isnt dominated by any one genre,.....and THAT is what makes it a great place to hang out

I couldn't put it better.

Of course this place is good! It's full of:

Excellent knowledge

Excellent builds

Excellent people

Over the years we have seen many members come and go and been honoured to witness some amazing models being built but above all it is the freindly atmosphere that seems to prevail here and what seems to make it very special. I have never seen such genuine good natured positive interaction anywhere else and I only hope we can continue to maintain that over the next ten years.

This site has provided me with inspiration and support, plus some humour and the answer to most of the problems I create for myself. It is my daily chat with friends.

Well, I found this forum last year August, and was building my second built ever, got many great advices, techniques, and positive comments that keep me going and try to be a better modeller. Now I open this forum almost everyday to see new completed projects, etc.

I've been participating for about a year now. I'd add my grateful voice to the above, for all the hints, tips, and encouragement from people who are more skilled than I am. Though I've been modelling on and off for years, I've never displayed a model in a show, and no-one has seen my models apart from family and visitors to the house. So for me, the first time I took pictures of a completed model and posted them here was a big step, and, thanks to the renowned friendliness of this forum, a wholly positive experience. That has provided extra motivation both to keep modelling, and to get better at it.

There's an interesting parallel here with running, which I'd done for decades before I started entering races. As soon as I'd entered my first race (at the age of 54!), I found myself running more often, running harder, and improving my performances dramatically. There the analogy breaks down, I'm afraid - I won't become less cack-handed with my airbrush simply by raising my pain threshold! But I can at least keep on practising.

For me it is the help and assistance and advice.

Most other forums show peoples work as here. But the praise here is different and gives confidence especially where experience is limited.

Where in any form in life can you pose a question before breakfast to take a peep after breakfast and find 4 or 5 methods of achieving a result. The time some have in providing very detailed answers also is a great plus.

There is also a tolerance here, mostly, that I have found on other forums lacking. That is to be able to put your point of view or way of doing things with out being torn to shreds because the other person thinks his way the only way and the best. That is very poor as it stops the flow of ideas as model makers become reluctant to participate. On other sites there seems to be a percentage who engage themselves in "rubbish making". Always best to say "my way" rather than "the way" and that is mostly what happens here.

There is also a "cheekiness" here and I like that. Seems to come from the club atmosphere here where a members character comes through and that fine line where cheek is taken as such and not rudeness. At the same time it is my opinion that a principle should be stated and not confused with tolerance.

So Si in all SMF is good for you breakfast dinner and tea. Plus of course we have you SI :D

Debated along time Si then gave you the benefit after long deliberation soul searching and distribution of all those facts. Then made a list yes or no and blindfolded stuck a pin in yes by accident.
