Great build! Did you make the flowers? They are a nice touch.
nope.....they are made by a german company called Fredericus Rex, they do all sorts of dio stuff, i picked up a box of mixed colour flowers at a show last year

Great looking dio great paints and weathering alround do another one as the next time round you will be quicker having already completed one ;) There can never be enough dioramas to look at.well done paul look forward to your next one cheers John

Good first dio! Just some helpful hints from an old hand, lets remember that war is a dirty nasty business. ruined buildings always have heaps of rubble about them, streets and roadways also to a lesser degree. Men {figures } are also a bit mucked up, grassy areas should also look a bit abused, maybe some browns and yellows dry brushed in. Red brick pieces along with some broken bits of concrete and some dry rotted wood wrapped in an old towel or other strong cloth-- just beat the dickens out of it with a hammer until well crushed will give you a good start. Mix into a slurry with some water and white glue, spread it around where you want it, build it up higher nearer buildings, other interesting tidbits can be found just around anywhere if you just use your imagination. give it all a heavey wash with a diluted mix of dark brown and black get it in all the crevases then start to dry brush out different earth tones, this will give depth and shadows. Remember we are all artists {only in 3D} Also study some wartime photos to give ideas. also check out my dios in Completed Dioramas "Crocodile Rocks " and " mien Komraden" for some ideas. also you might have another project underway at the same time so as not to bore or rush to finish your dio, I find this helps. Keep plodding along you will get the hang of it! Looking forward to some smashing work from you in the future! With LOVE as all my hopefully helpful advice is given.....JIM.

Artillary special interest group build, Jim I added the noted reply to your post because I'm very keen to pick your mind on techniques.

like Aaron said.........

arty = military slang for artillery.................sig = special interest group..............gb = group build.......its been running on here since january 1st!

if you want to give advice you could always post it in the tips and how to sub forum

and why 'SHEEESH'?....whats the problem?

to Beowolf personally---None whatsoever! Only a slight misunderstanding on my part. Thought you meant you were leaving us for another SITE. Once we yanks make new friends we are fiercely loyal must sand down my rough edges, but no worries the Mrs. has given me a good talking to! Wish I could participate in a group build, sounds like smashing fun but would be a bit difficult with me being across the pond. I would always try to share my meager skills at any time with anyone who might ask. ALLTHE best JIM
