I have exchanged photos and information with a fellow modeller in Russia for a while, mainly Luftwaffe stuff, and he pointed me to this web site. It's obviously Russian and I find navigation a bit random (it adds to the fun) but there are some tremendous images to be found.

Военный альбом: военные фотографии 1939, 1940, 1941-1945 годов

Some of you may already know it but if not it is well worth a look.

I found this amazing image of a group of "blitzed" children in London to give an idea of what you may stumble upon.

Look at those teddies! Did they rescue them or have they been given to them in an effort to try to cheer them up?

Cheers

That's a good site Steve. As you say you have to dig a bit but there's some really good images there. 2 particularly caught my eye - a knocked out Tiger 2 (Henschel), and what looks like the aftermath of a 'Jabo' attack with a couple of British/Canadian troops looking at the wreckage of German vehicles. There is a great mix of everything though.

Those teddies look donated - they're a bit cleaner than the kids! Scabbed knee on the kid on the right - it's a great pic and quite moving.

It is a nice image. The teddy doesn't seem to be working on the little girl on the left!

One word of caution,I know some of the attributions/places etc concerning the Luftwaffe images are incorrect so I suppose others may be too. This of course is not a problem limited to this site alone but is unfortunately very common on the internet (take a look at the Life archive for example). It shouldn't detract from the images, which usually speak for themselves. I actually don't care if those kids were photographed in London,Liverpool,Bristol or anywhere else!

Cheers

Great site Steve, google translate works quite well on it to so some sense can be made of the Russian comments.
