Thanks to Bob for organising this GB which will be my first.

My contribution is also a blue moulded kit to join its Blues Brothers already shown.

Will be building it OOB except for some seat belt PE and ribbon nicked from another kit - maybe. Going to model it with the full array of auxiliary night driving lights fitted as I have never seen one built that way. The window masks and mesh came in the box. As a curbside build I am hoping it goes together fairly quickly. Decal application will be "interesting".

Paint is Proscale colour matched Mica Blue with their 2k clearcoat.

Herewith the obligatory images.

This kit was one of my options so I'll follow along.

We have a couple of them hanging around at work if you need any pictures of anything.

It should go together nicely, I built the Tamiya Impreza of similar vintage which went together very well.

My second favorite car of all times...Nice kit Stefan and I'm sure you will do it justice. Have fun!!!...

Started this afternoon and managed to remove body mould lines. Built up some smaller components which will be body colour. Letting glue set and deal with seams and ejector pin marks tomorrow.
Hope to primer on Monday with white UMP (Badger) primer. I understand that people have hassles using white primer however it has been suggested that the bottle be put in warm water to aid application ( using a USB drinks warmer or baby bottle warmer), will report back if it's successful.

Today's progress.

Primered body and auxiliary external parts. I warmed the UMP white primer in a mug of hot water placed on a USB powered mug warmer and it did spray better than previous times.

Then, using the floorpan as a jig, I deseamed the roll cage parts and tack assembled the unit in situ to ensure correct alignment.
1000012929.jpgAfter gently removing it glued together properly and let it set after double checking on the floorpan. Then dry fitted the cage and tried the body on for clearances and alignment, also did this with the glass temporarily held in place - all good.

Finally filled in visible ejector pin marks and fitted a couple of parts to the floorpan which will be painted blue.

Cheers for today.

Progress report.

All required parts painted Subaru Mica Blue 555 from Proscale paints. Body shell and auxiliary exterior parts took 8 very light coats.

Everything in a large box in the airing cupboard for 2/3 days to thoroughly dry before attempting to apply the numerous decals. After that 2k clearcoat to exterior parts and 1k clear to floorpan and roll cage.

Brilliant paint job there Stefan, it seems a pity to muddy it up, or are you going for a before racing look?

Thanks but I don't have the guts, heart, pigments/washes or skills to dirty it up.

No photos today you will be glad to know.
6 hours spent deseaming and prepping the suspension, brakes, drive train, wheels and exhaust components in readiness for primer tomorrow.
Got to say that Tamiya put their very small ejector pin marks in virtually non visible sites and the seams/mould lines are very light and absolutely no flash. Not used to that.

WOW!!! That's a beautiful 8 light coats on the WRC, Stefan. It looks really good and so nice and smooth. You sure aren't wasting any time building this puppy. Nice work, Sir!!!
