I have been restoring a few old models and tried the oven cleaner trick

to strip off the paint, but it didn't work as I had hoped :-(

SOmeone sugested I submerge the model in undiluted household bleach, I got hold of a 5L of no name stuff for about 1 UK squidd.

14 hours later it looked like this! Just a little more to go and it should be totally clean.

Easiest way yet!

I have also tried the oven cleaner method which didn't work for me either. Having made an enquiry on the forum some helpful chap recommended fairy power spray which was awesome and worked a treat. The only problem I had was that it ate through some if the glue as well but that wasnt a problem. It works very quickly too.

I can now state that this bleach trick really works well! A did a light sanding with some 1500 wet paper and the underlying plastic is just perfect! It even removed the paint from all the pannel lines.

This will be my prefered method from now on, and it costs WAY less than oven stuff.

Stay tuned in the plane section for the Impala Mk2 (Aermachi MB 326 K) new paint scemee.
