discussion Superglue - can someone recommend a useable bottle??

I seem to get myself into a right mess with superglue without really trying. After not really getting on with supermarket regular superglue, I bought a bottle of "VitalBond" (see pic below) which works great when I can get at it, but the lid sticks fast to the bottle every time I close it up. Is there a superglue that just works, where you can open and close the end without having to faff each time?

Equally I seem to have to squirt some of the glue onto a piece of plastic and then apply with a cocktail stick or pin since none of the nozzles are sufficiently thin. What is even more irritating with this VitalBond stuff is that the bottle isn't very squeezy so you have to almost crush the bottle to get it to flow.

I'm just getting a bit jaded with what ought to be a simple process. Is this just "the way it is" with superglues or am I missing a trick? Is there a decent bottle that just works?

Ah, why didn't I ask here first - I'll see if anyone else has any rec's but will prob order a bottle of that stuff, looks like it's a more useable item! Thanks!

Try giving the nozzle a wipe with nail varnish remover before you put the cap back on. It works for me.

Munkster try shop4glue.eu. They market micro glue applicators. It fits over the nozzle of the glue applicator attached to the bottle.

The extension nozzle at the fit over end is 5mm. The front end the outlet hole is about a third of a millimetre. You cannot fit a dressmakers pin in it.

You can cut it down to get a large hole. Also I use it to take a drop from the bottle nozzle & use it as you are using a cocktail stick. It does not stick to super glue & I think is the best way of applying superglue. I got into the same mess when using superglue for the first time.

They are £1 for 10. Amazing company they send the goods without pre-payment. Can you believe that.

Great idea on the nail polisher remover. It will save using two pairs of pliers to break the seal every time. Thanks Gern.

Got to say I flit to other Forums but have found this one very informative with great ideas & advice.

I only ever use bog stock supermarket carded glue, it does vary but at a £1 a sheet of 8 it's no loss if you get a bad one.

As for blockages, I dispense a drop or so onto a handy surface then holding the tube upright i squeeze the excess in the nozzle out onto a piece of tissue and wipe the nozzle clean then recap it, i store the tube upright, as yet other than a split tube I haven't had any set fully on me and as I don't use a tube quickly, (hence my reticence at paying for expensive ones), they occassionally go thick near the end of the tube

i only every use ZAP product, they are faultless in my eyes but you do pay the extra for them.

Don't forget to store it in the fridge, it lasts much longer before thickening

I used to store mine in the fridge but between the glue and the 50m roll of ilford b&w camera film + my med format rolls in there my missus was getting a bit hacked off
