Has anyone built the above kit? also I was thinking of putting an LED light in it

Built it, and had the same idea. Bought the lights from Maplins, but even their smallest ones are too big for the wing tips. I think there is a company who do a bespoke kit - a search of the interweb may find them!
 
How about a bit of fibre optic from a light source to the wingtip?

You can find it on those odd little christmas tree things if it can't be found to buy.
