Hi Folks. Feel such a muppet. On the finishing touches to the 1.32 Mustang today and painting the top engine cowling I left it for a few moments under the magnifying lamp while I answered the phone. To my horror when I returned after only a couple of minutes to find that the slight heat from the lamp was enough to distort the cowling resulting in it being too disfigured to use. Hope this serves as warning to others as the cowling is very so thin that it takes very little heat to do damage. I live in hope that someone may know of a source of spare parts where I could get a replacement. I did hear mention of a contact somewhere but no luck with online searches so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Pete

Can you not put it in really hot water and mould it back into shape? Or scratch build a new one with plastic card?

Think its really beyond that. Some quite compilcated compound curves but thanks for the suggestion. Only way out is to display without the top cowl.

Pete get on to either Tamiya or the concern that you bought it from. You should be able to get a replacement.

Huge relief. Thanks to you Laurie for the suggestion. Contacted the main Tamiya UK importers this morning and a replacement engine cowl sprue will be in the post today at a cost of £12. That will teach me to be more cereful in future. I'll stand you a glass when next in Jersey Luarie. Thanks again. Pete.

Thanks Pete. Just send the money do you need my bacs details ?

Pleased you got it sorted. It really is a nightmare when you have spent all those hours building.

Laurie

PS if you are in Jersey please give me a call as I am in the wilderness a bit as we do not have a club. Moving at the moment & then decided when settled I will start a model making club. Nice to find what others are doing and also your own build quality in comparison. Also think you try harder to impress & not let yourself down.
