discussion Testors Military A/C Spray set 9216

Hey folks, I am new to the site, looking for experienced modellers to chat with. I have a question about airbush sets. I saw this spray set from Testors, wondering if anyone has used it - I'd like to know what people think of it. It's the one with a dome-cap that attached to a paint cup/bottle, and is for spray painting. It reminds me of a very cheap kind of airprush, but i wonder if anyone has experience wtiht this thing. I am a modeler with I would say "intermediate" skills, and low budget, but looking for a cheap alternative for airbrushing camo on my military aircraft. Any thoughts or advice? Is an airbrush a MUST ??

hi jason ,welcome to the forum. I dont know about the testors airbrush but id say a cheaper dual action airbrush would be a better bet. Dont forget though , an airbrush is definitely not essential , there are plenty of people who get fantastic results with brushes alone. Cheers tony

Hi Jason, I agree that an airbrush is not essential. Many modellers have produced excellent results for years and continue to do so using the normal brushes. It is all about mastering the tools you use.

Hi Jason. I'd agree with the lads here. When it comes to airbrushes, mastering it takes a while and they're not cheap. But once you have it, it ought to last for some time. Besides, they produce some fantastic results. With camo, being an inexperienced airbrush-er could lead to some interesting results if you're not spending days masking for some complicated pattern. But like the lads said, brush work can be just as good. Like Graham said; it's about mastering the tools you use.

What's the saying? A good craftsman never blames his tools... unless he buys them in Russia.
