...but where would you store this beaut!

The Mosquito 1/24 was on center stage on the Airfix Stand at IPMS Telford this year, and what a model it is! Built by SAM for December's issue and featured on their front cover. I took as many pics as I could manage for you, as there was loads of interest with people jostling about for a closer look. Enjoy!

So, who's gonna buy this for a mere £115?

Chris

Nice pics there Chris, I've seen that on Hannants website for a proposed price of £130 but the cost aside, I'd struggle to find anywhere to put it! Unlike the 1/72 kits of my youth, I don't think I could hang it from the ceiling!

Oh, the model's not mine Andy. Wish it was - purely for the build only cos as Patrick points out, there would simply be no room to store the crate! - and you'de need some heavy duty brake cable to hang it from the ceiling!

That's another beaut of a plane Andy - Lovely build on the Honet. Is that an RC model?

nice pics chris,i thought this was a bit like the loch ness monster ,didnt really exist -its been that long coming! looks like theyve (airfix)done a great job but greatness apparently comes at a price ,although saying that some of trumpeters recent 1/32 releases have been round about the hundred quid mark! Speaking of hanging it from the ceiling, when i was a nipper i made the airfix 1/24 mustang(xmas pressie-i couldnt afford £8 on my pocket money!!) and i had it dangling over my bed on cotton and two drawing pins!! I could have been dive bombed at any time in my sleep ,now that would have hurt, it was quite a big bugger! Glad to see theyve finally got it made though ,i hope they get the sales they deserve for making such a bold move cheers tony

Looks a beut, not sure it would fit in the office on my desk

It'd certainly be better than that silly Newton's Cradle thing!

Had you planned on being able to use the desk for work afterwards though?

Yep Tony,

It's a pricey bit of kit this Mossie... £115-130, I spent £120 on the Harrier II and Swordfish, so is it value for money for one model? Shall find out with the reviews that will be rolling in however for now I think it's a little too much, but the temptation is there... lol! and I have a wife that brings me back to reality with all the other mundane bills...booo!

Well Dograt and Gern I was thinking... for a glass display case for the mossie monster, there's always the greenhouse out back....

Were you planning on still using the greenhouse to grow plants? :)

Sorry Chris, i mist you post. Again as with you its not mine and i wished it was. It is Dave Platts latest creation. He has used this build for his new series on electric RC Models, I believe he has flown it several times.

Hi chris as you may or may not know i don't built planes but the work you have done on this is outstanding sir beautifully detailed and weathered and i have to say it is a bit of a monster, must admit i'm in the process of building the 1/35 schnellboot which is similar in price and is also a monster. Anyway keep up the excellent work and here is five stars for your effort whish is well deserved nice one.

ermmm, thanks for the five stars - but I hope that was for my photographic skills as this was on show at the recent IPMS Scalemodel World show. Again, wish it was my build but would need an extension on the house to store this beast!

So, can I keep the 5 stars??? lol
