thanks guys, waiting for some clear resin to arrive off e-bay and then i am going to tackle the river, one question for you guys is that i plan to have some guys stood partly in water so to make the uniforms look wet at the bottom is it simply a case of brushing darker shades of the base colour on the bottom or would glossing the bottoms acheive the desired effect?

Andrew, cloth doesn't shine when it's wet but is dull.....go outside for a few minutes and then look at your jeans!lol So I would deffo go for a darker, matt shade. Gloss would not look right......

That is my take on it, others might think differently mind.

Cheers,

Ron

I'm with Ron, only leather or rubber would look shiny when wet.

Oh yes that stringy stuff with fluff on - I've got some of that as well but can't remember what its called. I'll look at the package when I get home this evening. Looking great on your tree armature!

well i have virtually finished this one, its not based on anything except the first couple of kits i grabbed out of my stash. went with darker coulours on the uniforms to simulate wet clothing but it does not really stand out at all. maybe i should make a story up for this......americans are stuck behind enemy lines, had a fight further down the river and are desperatly trying to get downstream to their unit, suddenly realise that there are two mates yapping on the bridge and with their buddy injured, they dont want to engage just yet, quick lets hide under the bridge, cant beleive how lucky we are that these two are tone deaf. how can they not see them or hear them...lol. ooh hang on steven speilberg is on the phone.

i love this DIO as it cqame from simply making a bridge, first class mate, green turns almost dark grey when wet,and grey turns almost black,so if you use green till knees then grey green from there down maybe will give illusion of wetness

thanks for the comments, had a lot of fun doing this one and i do like the clear resin for the river .the one i used shrinks a little but looks great.it probably could of done with a bit of colour to the water nut havnt got clue if it can be coloured, will ask the e-bay seller if this is possible.

Although the photos are a bit fuzzy, this looks really great.

To get their trousers to look wet I think you will need to go a lot darker. A pair of Olive green combat trousers are quite a dark green when they are wet. Well mine are when it rains. The only real way to get the right idea is to find some clothes around the colour you want and make them wet.
