Couldn't resist this one,

Having spent many months building my nephews 2 cars...(both of which are on here) and not having owned one myself since 1978, I decided I would take the plunge and treat myself to give my nephew some competition when out with his cars.

I had a look on E-bay last weekend and missed out on one car by £1...a Thunder Tiger TS4-N...I only missed it because the auction ended whilst I was working. I had a scour that evening though and found a car on there which was due to end within just over an hour. Having read the specs and seen the pics on it (there were 5 pics posted) it didn't look too bad.

No Bodyshell or radio included but that did not bother me as I have a spare 2 channel set sitting idle anyway.....and I think you have seen what I can do with Bodyshells already on here !!

I decided to sit on this one and watch the hour go by...it was up for £30 initial starters....within the last 30 mins it started to creep slowly...I think there was someone testing to see if any other bidders...I sat quietly with my bid ready for the last 15 seconds and then zapped it in...and won it !!

The result is as you see below....A Kyosho Superten car with fan cooled engine !!! (Very Unusual but it works) A Perfect GS-15 Engine with pullstart and best of all, this has been hopped up with drilled metal disk brake and a 2 speed gearbox (that was not mentioned on the advert..??)

Cost to me...??? £41.28p plus £10 postage.

Having received the car yesterday and checking it over..it is perfect, I am still gobsmacked at such a bargain.

Will be buying a Bodyshell tomorrow (cost £17.99p) I could buy the BMW M3 GTR Shell for that price and then it will be ready to run

This means I have got my whole car for under £100....and how much did that BMW cost off the mags..??

Regards.....Mark

Latest news on this one,

It's going to be yet another car from 2 Fast 2 Furious...this time I am doing the Toyota Supra...easy paint job and the graphics will not be a problem either.

(Funnily enough I had an e-mail from the seller of this car on e-bay to say it was originally fitted with a Supra shell but he kept it cause of all the scrapes and scratches it had endured whilst running) and I got that e-mail after deciding I would do the supra shell on it !!

Spooky or what...??

Looking forwards to this one now, will look nice with the Skyline.

Regards......Mark

the skyline will look cool on it!!!! have ya seen the pics of mine?????

Blue that is a good buy from ebay the kyosho super 10 has the same dimensions as the hpi super nitro car,so you can use there 280mm wheelbase bodyshells on it and wheels and tyres.

I want to get a skyline bodyshell for my hpi super nitro rally but bust spending money to buy part and stuff,so i can convert my TT truck into a Road/Rally car when i feel like a change but first need to build it which i will be doing when the bits get here.

you need to cold cathode this baby.
One can get these for about £3 from www.ebuyer.com and they are easy as pie to rig up off your main bat or a secondary bat box!

Brill buy by the way, looks like its in really nice condition too!

I agree with john, however that one cant find the bargains like the good old days, however from a sellers point of view its great!

Thanks for the replies Guys,

As soon as I have my Bodyshell then work will commence, they didn't have any in the shop the other day so I am having to order one.

Just out of interest, I have tried the Skyline shell on this chassis and the wheelbase length is perfect at 280mm, (Yes I did use the Supersize shell) However the width across the rear wheelbase is too narrow...meaning the wheels are hidden well inside the rear wheel arches...looks pretty naff like that and those wheels on that chassis are pretty wide !!!

As you probably know from the Skyline post, the Skyline is my nephews car and was built specially for him, now including the full carbon fibre chassis as per the pics on that post........The new car is actually for me so I will do the Supra as per 2 Fast 2 Furious and have already started the ground work for all the Graphics on it etc.

And yes this car is in Excellent condition, just the usual scrapes on the underside of the chassis from normal running but otherwise perfect. The pics of it on E-bay really did not do it justice...I was extremely pleased on opening the box when it arrived.

Will keep you posted, this one will be up and running in next to no time.

Regards.......Mark

Well, Since I last posted on here, I have had to have a rethink about doing the Toyota Supra, purely because of limited availability of shells to fit this car.....and the Supra is not available for the reason below:

My car is the Kyosho Superten FW04 which has a Wheelbase of 280mm.

The newer Superten FW05 has a wheelbase of 258mm, so is designed to accept nearly all the shells currently available on the market today.

However, all is not lost, I have been doing a little bit of digging around on the internet and have come up with a suitable alternative...and a genuine Kyosho Shell too, just awaiting delivery now.

The car......A Honda NSX, which I will be doing up as per the one below. As you can see, I already have the right wheels so this should come out nice !!

The Logos are no problem, I have a computer and the know how to make my own.

Regards.......Mark.

hi mark. nice choise! i love the nsx, if you wanted to be a bit boring an all black one looks lovely!

will you be doing the c/f chassis again? (if you have and c/f left...!

are you going to make this as a honda nsx (japan and europe) or an acura nsx (america for some strange reason)

i spoze its just deciding which logo you prefure..

did you know there was an nsx in 2 fast 2 furious???

trying to find a decent picture for you!

Cheers Richard,

Yes I have seen that one from 2 Fast 2 Furious, I am not really keen on the colour scheme though. The pattern on the front looks a bit like the Louis Vitton scheme, (he of very expensive handbags fame !!!)

P.s .....I will not being doing the C/F Chassis on this one as this chassis is quite complex and there is a lot more bolted on it compared to the last car I did. The chassis is in perfect condition anyway so no need to change it really....and besides that I don't have any C/F Sheet left after the last car.

Regards........Mark.

ok, only managed to find one decent pic and its not a very good angle for detail.the pattern on the dront looks like it could pose a challenge!

what do you think mark??
i believe you can buy the masking patern which you jiust stick on

Thread owner
and just to keep you updated,

The new Bodyshell arrived this morning, it is a genuine Kyosho shell so it is a perfect fit and lots of nice details in there too, including wing mirrors and a windscreen wiper blade !!! The spoiler is a nicely moulded item too just needing bolting on using the plates etc supplied. Loads of decals supplied too.

I have to thank Alans Models for this one as they have been brilliant finding the shell for me in the first place and making the necessary enquiries to locate one. Best of all is the Very Prompt Delivery too.

I would certainly recommend them to anyone...their website is at

www.alansmodels.co.uk

That brings back fond memories of my first ever RC car. Anyone remember the Tamiya Terra Scorcher? I fitted a Toyota body shell to it at one point, just to have a play around and I spent ages carefully masking off the outside of the body shell.

Good job I realised before I actually got around to painting it.

i had several very early tamiya cars, the first was a holiday buggy, then a sand scorcher and finally a subaru brat cand then a midnight pumpkin......

they were the days.......... - i went on from there to own several IC cars and then RC boats, and subs and a glider....

those tamiya cars sure got me hooked !
