Impressed with resin and UV, much better than CA as it doesn't set until you use a UV light
 
I’ve just had a long look through this build, and I thought I had lots or PE to do on my Ark Royal build.
You’ve done a fantastic job with yours, the Tirpitz is looking fantastic.

Hi Si, many thanks! I have just removed the single barrelled 20mm guns and the directors for light AA, Night control and search lights. They are small but include the seat for the operator, not just a bit of resin but a detailed seat and clear to see binoculars! The 20mm even has the perforations in the spent cartridge bag, unbelievable detail, how on earth i ask myself.

The AA vierling, 6 in box, cost me £12 with free P & P last yr, today £17 plus £7 P & P!! So if you buy all the AA stuff inc the kit it's over £120 odd, add on PE, wood deck etc its very expensive.

Tomorrow after getting more paracetamol and locking the window I'll try to attach the superb 20mm gun into the cradle. Off too pray lol

Very kind sir, the whole idea is a lot to do, practice build! So the full PE set, metal barrels, wood deck and 3D. Slowly sorting out the faults. I have some very nice and detailed kits, so fun and games ahead lol.

To be fair your PE is roughly half the size, you are in my prayers lol.

Well finally got one 20mm flak done, phoned the samaritans but they were busy lol.

After a bit of thinking I used a small adjustable platform, two lights, one being magnifying and headset and a packet of paracetamol. Mounted on a lollipop stick with blue tac and held with a peg and ordered Ammo double sided tape as we know using blue tac means the lower parts don't get paint.

The cradle has the holes for the gun and the gun the tiny, tiny, tiny pins, absolutely insane. Found normal CA takes ages to set but gel is much better. 7 to go! Will my nerves hold out!!

Good point Pete, I have another set of two barrelled AA to complete, so I'll give it a bash on them. Good idea sir!

Well Pete, your mad idea seems ok! The twin barrelled AA went ok, so onto the single 20mm, did 3 in the same time as the one.

Not bad but getting close is problem. But biggest issue is the UV torch time. Decided to go for about 15 secs, seems to set ok.

Next is painting, was going to prime then spray cradles grey followed by brushing the barrels, only concern is knocking the barrels off??

Right, more playing silly buggers. Final 3 I used CA gel. Worked very well, it grabbed ok and as a gel it allowed a bit of play. Only issue, not to big a blob of gel!

Pete did some looking at curing stations, of course a wide variety. Green stuff do one for modelling, its a rectangular box but designed for figures. The ones for nails would be ok for placing parts in, especially small stuff on a lolly stick. But no good for rigging and railings etc due of course to size. So would have limited use for me, but armour or small planes and especially parts joined together?

Thanks Pete for the suggestion, at least my nails will look the dogs!!
