Tristar marder III
Ausf H
Good evening Ladies and gents,
Thought I would share my build of the above kit with you. It’s a busy kit with lots of parts but so far it’s enjoyable:smiling4:

I ignored the destructions and went straight for the track and running gear.

I like to tackle the tracks as soon as possible, this way I can do a few here and threre without finding it tedious.

Then I moved onto the transmission etc....

The seats before adding last details...
This is the second 38(t) with interior I’ve built recently and my 3rd 38(t) variant! Still enjoy them:smiling4:

Here is a dry fit before some paint..

Hi Jon,
I brought this a good few yrs ago from EBay? I’ve not come across one for a while!
Si

Love these little panzers and their derivatives. Nice start on the interior Si!

Cheers

Looking cool Si
There is a lot of brass, does it come with the kit?
Or do you have an upgrade pack?
I really do like the Marder III and its many variants, though the Tristar/HobbyBoss is still on my to get list.
Looking forward to this developing
Regards

Scottie, Wouter...good to see you gents.
Still plenty to do in the driving compartment before it disappears!

Steve....glad you like it so far. The photoetch is all part of the kit. The Tristar marder is getting harder to find so if you spot one, grab it!

Papa....thanks very much:smiling4:

Hopefully get some more done in the next few days..
Thanks again
Si

HI Si just caught up with your build, and your off to a great start, keep i coming.
Pete.

Si
I have been looking forward to seeing an update on this build and you dont disappoint. I will look forward to seeing the weathering. Will there be a driver?

Pete, Jim....thanks for looking in:thumb2:
Steve...don’t worry I’ll keep moving with the build. I have no figures planned, really want to keep this a quick simple build so I can crack on with the other dio.

A couple of progress pictures.....
I had missed the instructions that said add the ammo rack or the second chair in the driving compartment, it wasn’t till I tried both I realised :upside:!
So out came chair!

I carried on with adding some of the external parts and the Mg....

Got the back end assembled with tow rope holder, but realise there is no tow ropes in the kit....bit:poop: but hey ho!
View attachment 301150

It’s quite an involved build, there are so many more parts to add to the hull as the destructions show!!

Thanks for looking in, all comments welcome

Hi Si
Making good progress. Looking neat and tidy. My memory is also of many, many little parts.
Jim

Morning Jim,
Many, many small parts.....you not wrong there:surprised: I’ve got some of your build pictures saved that I’ve been referring too:thumb2:
Si

Si, that's first rate work mate, looking really clean and love the colours.

Hey Si, I have this one in my stash too but never had the b***s to get this one started. This kit however is in good hands !

Si
Lots of small bits to keep you busy. Did the hull parts go together okay or did it need filling?
Steve

Thread owner
Scottie...cheers buddy:smiling3:
Evan....thank you:thumb2:

Guy...i wouldn’t worry about this kit, with you modelling abilities, you’ll have this built and painted easy peasy:cool: (I have to admit I have two dragon kits of this version in the stash:tongue-out:)

Steve...the hull sides went together nicely but some of the top parts have been a bit tricky to line up well (probably doesn’t help I’ve been rushing it) the steering mech sits a fraction too high and requires a few tweaks to get the access hatch on the front to sit nice...even then, the hinges wouldn’t line up:sad:...stowage will fix that:smiling4:
I will need a little filler here and there but nothing dramatic....I hope

Si

Good evening Mr Benson .
That's a very smooth flat paint job, pray tell, of which paint did you apply ?
John.
